The FHS class of ’57 took an approach to their 50th Reunion that shouted, “The More the Merrier.”

Friday morning, September 14th, a number of class representatives led by Pete Mehas attended the unearthing of our time capsule from the front of the school.

Friday noon, classmate Roger Nuttall hosted a lunch for men-only at the Landmark Restaurant.

In the afternoon, a tour of the current FHS facilities was led by Alumni President, Jack Fowler. Many had not ventured inside the school since graduation.

Friday evening, classmate Ed Munger and his wife, Tamsen, hosted a party in their garden for the first 200 classmates who responded to the invitation. Classmates enjoyed a buffet supper, music and an opportunity to visit in a beautiful, relaxed setting. Ed received awards from the Fresno City Council, the Brotherhood of the Badge and Channel 30.

The next morning a classmates-only breakfast held at Copper River County Club gave 152 classmates and half-a dozen former FHS teachers a chance to view the unveiling of the contents of the time capsule – which yielded nothing much more than a congealed mass. But much catching-up took place with many photos being taken.

Saturday evening was the big event, the Reunion Party at Wolf Lakes. Two hundred and seventy eight classmates and guests attended.

The following Monday 75 FHS classmates and guests embarked on a four-day cruise to San Diego, Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico. Also included were 32 from Roosevelt, 6 from Clovis, and 10 from Madera, all ’57 classmates and their guests.
