18th annual alumni dinner 4

If you didn’t attend the 18th annual all-alumni dinner on May 6, you missed a lot of fun.  The event was sold out two days before and there were disappointed people at the last minute who could not attend.  The contest for the most classmates attending a mini-reunion was won by class of 1959 and a lot of thanks goes out to Jack Globenfelt who organized his class and coming from New York to attend.  Each 1959 attendee walked away with a nice goodie bag for the evening.

The FHS Associated Student Body and Leadership ran the 50/50 raffle and collected $443.  The lucky winner, besides the ASBL, was Sam Holmes, class of 1979 who walked away with $221.50.

Gary Lanfranco, class of 1964 catered a fantastic dinner of flat iron steak, scalloped potatoes, vegetables and salad which was served by Fresno High cheer squad and Senate members.

The silent dessert auction was fabulous with over 30 delicious items to bid on. Winners of the dessert shared their goodies around their tables and eventually took home lots of calories and carbohydrates in the leftover desserts.

In attendance was Dennis Elia, class of 1959 and his mother Mary, class of 1936 who just turned 96 and had a rousing happy birthday sung to her.

The classes of 1979, 1980 and 1981 were having such a great time, they closed the place down.

18th annual alumni dinner 3

A wonderful evening with the hint of threatening rain did not keep the group from having a wonderful time. Campus tours were led by JROTC and cheer squad, there were so many alumni who had not seen the current renovation of the school and were much surprised by how well the beloved Royce Hall is doing. It will be going through a million dollar sound renovation soon.

Many thanks to so many student groups who helped set up the event on the street and helped to clear the street when it was over.
Join us next year, it’s the first Saturday in May each year. More photos will be posted at soon.

The 18th Annual All-Alumni May Dinner
Saturday, May 6, 2017

Have a mini-reunion and join in the ‘walkabout’ at this year’s annual fund raiser for the students at Fresno High School.  Get a group of high school friends together, reserve a table and go ‘walkabout’ in the 21st century to escape from the pressures of everyday life and to reconnect with yourself, with loved ones and with the natural world.

There will be a dessert silent auction in which the only way to have dessert at your table is to win one of the fantastic desserts on the silent auction tables.  Share with your table and with others and connect with a ‘walkabout’ attitude.

Reserve your table/s for a class mini-reunion, the class with the most attending will receive prizes for all those attending.  Reservations must be made per table so get your funds together and send in your reservations.  We will need names of each person attending when reserving tables of 10.  Individual reservations can be made at $50 each.

Gary Lanfranco is a 1964 graduate of FHS and owner of Cosmopolitan restaurant. Gary will be catering our sit down dinner, served by Senate members, on the street in front of Fresno High.  Margaritas, wine, beer and other drinks will be available.  Also, a 50/50 raffle will benefit Leadership students.

So, get your walking shoes on and make your reservations on line or send a check to Marie Slater, 655 E. Michigan, Fresno, 93704.  If you have an active $100 alumni membership which gives you a free dinner pass, contact Marie and let her know you plan to attend.  Her phone number is 559-224-5241 or email her at This email address is being protected from spambots.
